The Tale of the Scorpio Moon Man: A Comparison between Charlie Chaplin and Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton is an Aries Sun with a Scorpio moon with a seventh house Venus retrograde in Taurus. Charlie Chaplin also shares these same placements and transits.
You may be wondering why I take an interest in studying the transits and astrological birth charts of celebrities. I study and write about celebrities for a very simple reason, their major life events are a matter of public record, making the astrological data (the dates and times) easily accessible for research purposes. In particular I study the mars and Venus retrograde cycles. This provides me plenty of information to study the planet cycles and transit patterns and write about it. Before I explain some of the eerie parallels between Eric Clapton and Charlie Chaplin, let me first explain some of the technical aspects of astrology that many people are not familiar with. Natal charts are constructed at birth and foretell the things that will come in a person’s lifetime. A person's chart is unique to them. You could refer to a natal chart as being a "life map." These two men’s charts have similar aspects (same sun- moon sign combo Aries Sun, Scorpio Moon) and same house placement for the sun/moon. The two of them both also have Venus Retrograde in their 7th houses.
Eric Clapton's Natal Chart
Neptune, Chiron, Jupiter, Venus and Pluto are all retrograde. Retrograde planets indicate a need to go inward and learn the lesson's from these planets. Natal Moon in Scorpio opposes Venus in Taurus RX and Mercury sitting on the marriage point (descendant).
Eric has had to really work on how he relates to other people and do work on self love andon his self sabotaging and self destructive tendencies as well as how he treats women. The afflicted moon indicates issues with his mother figure, that effects how he relates to other women. While these transits are challenging they can be worked through and immense growth can be established.
Charlie Chaplin's Natal Chart
Note: The Saturn T-Square between the moon on the ascendant and Venus and mars in the 7th house near the descendant. Saturn in T square to the moon can indicate divorced parents or a father that walks out on a child, it could be looked at a transit that indicates abandonment in childhood. Saturn is also about Power structures and growth. In Chaplin's case he had to grow up fast and be a father to his brother Sydney.
The T square apex is in the 9th house near the mid-heaven and is squaring planets in the 7th house (others/relationships with others) and the first house of self. So this transit affected him as a person, how he related to others. His struggles were ultimately transmuted into hard work and extreme success.
Eric Clapton pictured with his grandmother who he believed to be his mother most of his life.
Both men have first house afflicted moons and were abandoned by their mother’s and both men lost a child to an untimely tragic death. When Charlie Chaplin was 6 years old, his mother was institutionalized. Clapton was abandoned at birth by his father and by his mother and was raised by his grandmother. NOTE Chaplin's natal Chiron is 6 degrees and his mother left at age 6. Both men were never raised by their biological father’s and both fathers were musicians that died from alcoholism.
Clapton's father was a soldier from Montreal, Quebec serving in England for the military, where he met Eric's mother. Clapton thought his grandparents were his parents and his biological mother was his sister, until he was 16. I had the great pleasure of reading Eric. Clapton’s Auto Biography and Pattie Boyd’s Auto-biography.
This gave me great insight into their lives and timelines. These books also provided me with the exact dates and times for astrological research. I also read Charlie Chaplin’s autobiography as well. The parallels between their natal charts and life stories are uncanny, and happened decades apart. Their lives had eerie parallels, correlating with their charts and their transits. See for yourself, keep reading
Like Chaplin, Clapton’s natal moon is also in Scorpio and in the first house. Both Chaplin and Clapton’s suns are in Aries, located in the 6th house. Eric’s moon is opposing venus in the 7th house. Like Chaplin he has a moon (mother) and Venus opposition between the 1st house (of self) and 7th house of (partnerships/marriage. Both have natal Venus RX. Both Chaplin and Clapton have T-Squares involving the 1st, 9th and 7 house involving the Moon and Venus. Charlie's T-square Involved Saturn in the 9th, whereas Clapton's 1-9-7 T -Square involved Pluto instead.
Eric has natal Venus retrograde in Taurus, the day that he lost Connor, he was experiencing a Venus return. Eric Clapton has an afflicted Venus, opposing the moon, and engaging in multiple squares and a T-Square.
Transiting Uranus and Neptune conjoined with Eric's natal 3rd house South node with a 1 degree orb between Uranus (the planet of surprise) . and the south node ( karma). The third house governs, early childhood, communication, siblings etc.
The transiting Gemini moon, was conjunct with Uranus in the 8th house of death. Connor's Natal Mars hit's Eric's 3rd house South Node. Connor's Pisces moon and RX Jupiter, fell in Eric's (5th house children) Eric and Connor's composite charts were interesting to study. Connor's Pluto hits
Eric Clapton's 1st house moon in a tight orb. As we know Eric's natal moon, has heavy transit action with Pluto in a fixed T-Square involving Venus, Moon and Pluto. The Moon is a very important planet for Eric Clapton in particular as it is in his first house. The moon also symbolizes important areas of his life he has struggled with: His mother, women, and emotional issues with self.
Laury Del Santo and her son Connor.
In Laury's natal chart she has a Jupiter-Neptune Conjunction in her Natal chart, and it falls into Eric's 1st house, conjoining with his moon. The moon has to do with motherhood and karma, once again Neptune (deception) is involved with moon Karma (Affair/ having a child with another woman who is not you're wife). Also Notice the intense T Squares in Eric and Laurie's composite chart. The T squares make contact with a 5th house moon in Capricorn at 19 degrees. The 5th house's natural ruler is Taurus and it governs over, creativity and children. T Squares are not considered a harmonious aspect, and considering Laury and Eric lost a child to tragic death it is interesting to consider the T-squares and oppositions between the 5th housemoon and venus, mercury, uranus in the 10th house. The death of Clapton's son influenced his career and inspired one of his most famous songs "Tears in Heaven" (note the 5th house opposition to the cancer stellium in the 10th house) The 10th house relates to the public spectrum and is linked to ones career in their chart.
Connor and Laury both had planets conjunct with Eric's Scorpio moon. Laury's north node, sits in Eric's 12th house close to his Libra Ascendant in the 12th house veil. (12th house secrets, karma). Laury's Aries moon, is a couple degrees away from Eric's Sun. 5-9 Clearly these two had some serious karma to work through. The 12th house relates to that which is hidden, or secret and Eric and Laury's affair certainly was secret for some time, as well as the fact he was having a child with another woman outside of his marriage to Pattie Boyd.
Pattie attending Connor's Funeral Circa 1991.
Both men had serious issues with infidelity, and “mother issues.” In the end they both married women 30 years their junior while they were in their fifties. These kinds of life decisions can be linked to them having afflicted moon's and both having natal Venus retrograde. Venus retrograde can cause the native's love life to be unconventional, scandalous, or have elements of infedility as well as strong passion and intensity within the relationship. Venus retrograde natives really need to learn self love above all else in order to succeed in romantic relationships. Both men had very publicized and unusual love affairs. While Venus retrograde can have a bad rap, one of the great things about Venus retrograde people is their creativity. When the venus retrograde transit is put to good use it can be channeled into immense creativity and inspire amazing music, art and film. Some of the greatest musicians, actors, and painters have Venus Retrograde natally. The affairs of Eric Clapton and Charlie Chaplin and many other Venus retrograde natives inspired some of the greatest books and love songs created in history. For example the novel “ Lolita” and the song “Layla.” The nature of Clapton's and Chaplin's relationships, correspond with their retrograde Venus' and afflicted first house moons.
Pattie and Eric Clapton's Wedding
Note Eric's Mars conjuncts Pattie's Venus, creating strong passion. Eric's north and south nodes are conjunct Pattie's ascendant and descendant. Eric's north node sit near Pattie's descendant and his Saturn in cancer is conjunct her descendant, the marriage and relationship point in the chart that is part of the 7th house. Eric's moon sits near her mid-heaven, bringing more fame and attention to Pattie, through music, fame publicity and marriage that was in the public eye. The natural ruler or the moon in cancer and cancer also relate to the general public. Eric's Neptune is places in Pattie's 8th house, which has to do with other people's money and settlement issues. It is known that Pattie did not get a large divorce settlement. Eric paid child support in secrecy for years while married to Pattie, the dark side of Neptune is deception and secrets. In the 8th house it can relate to liquidated money flowing in secret directions.
